Love plants but haven’t exactly got green fingers? We’ve got an upcycling tutorial to help flora flourish without even needing to water them by turning our Love Me Butter Christmas gift into a terrarium!
Terrariums are sealed and they condense moisture in the soil and from the plants – creating a small scale water cycle.
They are the perfect low-maintenance way to bring a touch of the outdoors into your home.
To create your own terrarium you will need:
• An empty Love Me Butter gift box
• 1 recycled plastic bag
• 3 plants suitable for closed terrarium – tropical varieties work best
• Soil such as pete lite
• Double-sided tape
• Animal figures (optional)
Start by using your scissors to cut a circle out of your plastic bag.
Apply strips of double-sided tape to the base and then stick your cut out circle onto it to create a lining.
Next cover your new base with a small amount of gravel and 4 heaped tablespoons of soil.
Loosen the roots of your plants of choice and press them gently into the soil.
Now it’s time to decorate.
Cover the soil with moss, and if you want to add a touch of fun why not include a couple of animal figures to make a mini world inside your new terrarium.
Place the see-through plastic lid over the top and that’s it, your very own fuss-free feature is done!
